Our Strategy 2025-2029
At Young Minders – The Home Education Hub, our strategy is centered on empowering home-educated children and their families by building on their strengths and providing accessible, high-quality interventions. As the number of home-educated children continues to rise, from 126,100 in 2022/23 to 153,300 in 2023/24, we are committed to responding to this growing need with an approach that fosters community growth and supports the unique potential of each child.

Over the next four years, we aim to expand our programmes, strengthen our engagement with families, and build sustainable partnerships that amplify our impact. In our first year, we were proud to connect with over 100 families and support an average of 25 teens per session during our weekly meetups. By embedding Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into our work, we are committed to creating a lasting positive impact, ensuring that every child, regardless of background, is empowered to explore, learn, and thrive in a supportive, inclusive environment.
Our Impact 2019-2024
Since our founding in 2019, Young Minders – The Home Education Hub has been dedicated to enhancing the home education journey by creating dynamic, hands-on STEAM learning opportunities that tap into the strengths and potential of children and families. Over the past six years, we've evolved from a grassroots initiative into a thriving community that nurtures young minds, fosters curiosity, and supports families in bridging educational gaps, particularly for those from underrepresented backgrounds.

Through our innovative programmes, strategic partnerships, and unwavering focus on inclusivity, we've connected with hundreds of children, helping them build confidence, develop valuable skills, and unlock opportunities for future success. From launching CREST-accredited science sessions to collaborating with corporations, our journey has been shaped by collaboration, resilience, and a commitment to empowering every child.

As we reflect on our achievements and challenges, we remain focused on our aspirations for the future—continuing to build a more inclusive, accessible, and engaging home education experience that values the strengths of every child and family we serve.

Annual Report 2023/24
At Young Minders – The Home Education Hub, we have worked alongside home-educated teens, particularly those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), to build a strong, supportive community. In our first year, we engaged with over 100 families in the Croydon area, co-creating educational resources that reflect the strengths and needs of each individual. Through collaboration and shared learning, we have empowered families to navigate the home education journey, fostering a sense of belonging and support within our community.

We have offered a variety of activities that celebrate the strengths of home-educated teens, including social events, skills-building workshops, and SEND-focused support sessions. These initiatives have been embraced by families, with feedback reflecting positive outcomes in social connections and enhanced mental well-being, demonstrating the power of community and collaboration in supporting each young person's growth and development.
The Growing Need for Support
As the number of home-educated children in the UK continues to rise, Young Minders is dedicated to responding to the growing needs of these families. Recent statistics from the Department for Education reveal an increase in home-educated children, from 126,100 in 2022/23 to 153,300 in 2023/24, reflecting a significant shift toward home education across the country.

This growth highlights the increasing recognition of the benefits of home education, with many families seeking greater flexibility and tailored support for their children. Factors such as mental health and the need for more targeted support for children with SEND are driving this shift. At Young Minders, we build on the strengths and resources of our community to ensure home-educated children have access to the educational and emotional support they need to thrive, creating opportunities for success that reflect the unique needs and strengths of each child.
